The Berlin TV Tower
(Berliner Fernsehturm) was constructed in the 1960s by the GDR. In addition to the obvious function, broadcasting propaganda, it was exploited as a symbol of socialist technological prowess. The tower is still standing, so perhaps it was built better than the Trabis. We did not take the elevator to the top. But the tower's web site has a nifty virtual reality panorama shot from the observation floor. Click
