We arrived in Berlin as Germany was preparing to host the 2011 World Cup (women's soccer competition). As part of the opening celebrations, the city was hosting a street fair, with a performance stage, food vendors, games for children, etc. Berlin apparently has no open container laws, and we saw many people strolling while consuming snacks and booze.
