At the bottom of Fourvière Hill is Vieux Lyon ("Old Lyon"), the historic core of the city. This is the Cathedral of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, also known as Lyon Cathedral. It was completed in 1476, predating the basilica on the hilltop by four centuries.
