This is a comparison of four Nikkor lenses, shooting a portrait at 70mm focal length (one lens was set to 80mm). Camera was a D700 on tripod. Subject was illuminated by indirect sunlight and fill flash. ISO was 200. I used Live View and Contrast Detect autofocusing, targeting Cindy's right eye. Shutter was triggered by remote release. Post-processing was minimal. Raw files were converted in ACR 4.6, tweaked and saved to JPEG in Photoshop CS3. I tried to equalize white point and exposure, and applied the same amount of sharpening to all four shots.
