This is a panorama shot from the terrace of Kitty's apartment. In the distance, you can see some Dutch windmills. But these are not the ones you've seen in classic paintings - they are modern wind-powered electric generators. Note the house on the right with brick front and bright blue side. Claude Monet spent several months in Zaandam in 1871 and made 25 paintings there, including one of this house.
