The Berlin TV Tower (Berliner Fernsehturm) was constructed in the 1960s by the GDR. In addition to the obvious function, broadcasting propaganda, it was exploited as a symbol of socialist technological prowess. The tower is still standing, so perhaps it was built better than the Trabis. We did not take the elevator to the top.
