It is claimed that since the middle ages, there have been booksellers on the banks of the Seine: les bouquinistes. The current vendors operate out of steel lockers, and are mostly offering used books and magazines, old maps and posters, and (of course) souvenirs for the tourists. We bought some copies of famous impressionist paintings, reborn as refrigerator magnets.
